Hurricane Katrina and Rita Relief

Hurricane Katrina and Rita Relief

From day 1 of Hurricane Katrina's victims arrival at the Astrodome through the arrival of Hurricane Rita and the ensuing months of prayer, care and counsel Family missionaries were there.

From Day 1, Family Aid Project and Family missionary volunteers were at the Astrodome, Reliant Center and other Mega-shelters as well as assisting at many of the smaller shelters.

When the Mega-shelters closed and Rita was approaching the Gulf of Mexico, FAP sent a scouting team to Waveland, Miss. and then, after Rita hit, took material aid and Jesus to shelters in Opalusa, LA.

During the month of December, hundreds of children that were among the evacuees of both Katrina and Rita registered and received bags of gifts from the truckloads of toys we received from the Florida Marlins and a 'Rap' radio station in Miami.
A Houston business man, Noe, donated the use of his 44000 sq. ft. warehouse and office to help us channel clothes, shoes, toys and household items to hurricane evacuees and their kids.
